How to Create 3 Different Looks Using your Hair Straightener

Look 1: Sleek Straight Hair

What you’ll need for this look:

  • Heat Protectant Spray (We recommend using the CHI 44 Iron guard Thermal Protectant Spray)

  • Anti-Frizz Spray - (We recommend using the Kerastase Anti Frizz Spray)

  • Shine Spray- (We recommend using the Kevin Murphy Shine Spray)

  • Duo-bristle Brush

  • Straightening Comb

  • Sectioning Clips

  • Hair Spray (Recommended: L’Oreal Paris Elnette Satin)

  • Optional: A set of clip in extensions

Start off by gently brushing out the knots in your hair using a duo-bristle brush.

Make sure to apply some heat protectant spray onto your hair before you start any heat styling.

This hairstyle will obviously flatten your hair to an extent to give it that sleek-straight look, therefore we do recommend clipping in some extensions to make sure your hair looks voluminous AND straight in the end. Make sure to use some heat protectant spray before straightening each weft. It is best to clip them all in after your own hair is done being styled. You can always go over any strands to make sure everything looks even.

Section parts of your hair and glide your straightening comb right before going over each section with your straightener.

Once you’ve finished going over all your own hair, clip in as many of the wefts you would like to use for this look.

A little trick we like to use to make sure your flyaways are tamed, is to spray a bit of anti-frizz spray on our hands and gently pat them down using your fingers. Finish off the look by using some shine spray to give your hair that sleek, beautiful look.

Look 2: The Bendy Wave

What you’ll need for this look:

  • Heat Protectant Spray (We recommend using the CHI 44 Iron guard Thermal Protectant Spray)

  • Sectioning Clips

  • Wave Spray (Recommended: OUAI Memory Mist)

  • Hair Spray (Recommended: L’Oreal Paris Elnette Satin)

  • Wave Diffusing Comb

  • Optional: A set of clip in extensions

After spraying some heat protectant spray we recommend using some wave spray to help your waves stay intact. We’ve lately been loving the OUAI Memory Mist spray. For this hairstyle, we recommend pre-curling your extensions before clipping them in and then going over for final touches to make sure everything blends in the right way.

The trick to using your straightener for these curls is to always curl the strands away from your face. Hold your straightener at a 45 degree downward angle and wrap the strand around- giving it two twists and holding the bottom strand down. Slowly glide the straightener down to the bottom of the strand.

Once you have finished doing this for your entire hair, we suggest lightly going through the strands either with your fingers or a wave diffusing comb. If you want to keep your curls from falling naturally use a bit of hairspray at the end of the look.

Look 3: The Dramatic Curl

  • Sectioning Clips

  • Wave Spray (Recommended: OUAI Memory Mist)

  • Hair Spray (Recommended: L’Oreal Paris Elnette Satin)

  • Optional: A set of clip in extensions

After spraying some heat protectant spray we recommend using some wave spray to help your waves stay intact. We’ve lately been loving the OUAI Memory Mist spray.

Again for this hairstyle, we recommend pre-curling your extensions before clipping them in and then going over for final touches to make sure everything blends in the right way.

To create a more dramatic curl, you will need to hold the straightener horizontally while wrapping each strand twice. Don’t forget to wrap each strand in the direction away from your face. Hold on to the ends of each strand and glad the straightener down.

Once you have finished doing this for your entire hair, we suggest lightly going through the strands either with your fingers or a wave diffusing comb. If you want to keep your curls from falling naturally use a bit of hairspray at the end of the look.

Now that you’ve had a chance to understand our addiction to this magical styling tool all we have to say is - grab your hair straightener and hop into the life raft- we can make it anywhere as long as we have all the love (for our hair straighteners)!
