Twisted Crown Half Up Do

What you need:

  • Hair Brush
  • Diffusing Comb
  • Medium Sized Curling Wand
  • Heat Protectant Spray (We recommend: Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray)
  • Sectioning Clips
  • Hair Bands (Clear Elastics)
  • Bobby Pins
  • Hair Spray (We recommend: L'Oreal Paris Elnett Superhold

First up is a twisted flower crown fit for a Queen. Before you start any of these looks here's an important Key Tip: When receiving the flowers from the florist place them straight into cool water or if you’re keeping them for later place them in the fridge before use to keep the flowers crisp & as fresh as possible. Now that you know how to freshen up your florals here is..

Step 1: Decide on straight or curly hair. We recommend soft curls as they compliment the femininity of the flowers. So begin by giving your hair a good brush through

Step 2: Before using any heat on your hair, we recommend always using heat protectant spray first. Using a medium sized (1 inch) curling wand, take a medium 2-3 inch section of hair and wrap the strand around the barrel away from your face. Hold each curl on the barrel for 8-10 seconds to get the maximum impact. Slowly unravel from the curling wand and begin the process again making sure you take even and proportionate sections of your hair and you’re curling in the same direction all the way around.

Step 3: Usually the curls may be too tight so soften them by taking a wide tooth acetate comb and gently brush through the curls from the bottom, upwards. Loosen the curls depending on how tight or loose you want them.

Step 4: Once you have your ideal curls. Here’s where we’ll create the twists. You’ll have a total of four twists, two on either side. Start by taking a section of hair above your ear roughly two inches wide.

Step 5: Separate this section into two equal sections and begin to twist them around each other until you reach the end of the strand.

Step 6: To add volume and detail to the twist, gently pull on the side of twist, all the way along. Once done place it across the back of your head and temporarily clip it in the centre in order to start with the other side

Step 7: Repeat the process on the other side. Don’t forget to pull the twist to add thickness. When complete, join this twist with the other and tie them together using an elastic hair band

Step 8: You now have your first section. So we love a good topsy tail, they make hairstyles look very intricate when they’re so easy to do. Take your ponytail and flip it up and in between the two sections. Pull down through the gap and there you have it, a topsy tail!

Step 9: We’re going to repeat steps 4 - 8 with another section of hair underneath this first section.

Step 10: This ladies is your twisted crown. Now let's flourish it with the finest flowers in all the land! Or just ones that coordinate with your outfit really well. Here’s another Key Tip: When cutting the flowers, make sure there’s a big enough stem to stick into the hair and strong petals so they don’t look old and wilted.

Flower Braid Bun

What you need:

  • Hair Brush
  • Hair Bands (Clear elastics or matching your hair colour)
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair Spray

If you’d like to take Summers floral trend up a notch, create a flower out of your own hair. You’re probably thinking that sounds overly complicated. Well, in fact all it takes is three simple braids, hair bands & some bobby pins. Here’s how:

Step 1: Give your hair a good brush through & tie it into a low ponytail.

Step 2: Separate the ponytail into three equal sections.

Step 3: Take the middle section and create a simple braid and tie with an elastic hair band. Gently pull on either side of the braid to give it a thicker and fuller look.

Step 4: Take this braid and twist it around into a rosette bun. Use bobby pins to secure the bun in place.

Step 5: Take another section of the ponytail and repeat the process. Create a

simple braid and then expand the braid by pulling on either side.

Step 6: You’re going to wrap the second braid around your rosette bun and use bobby pins to secure it in place.

Step 7: Last but not least. Take the third and last section of your ponytail and create your final braid. Expand the braid and place it around your bun where you think it will look the best. Use bobby pins to secure it in place.

Step 8: Now that your flower braid bun is complete. Use hairspray for extra hold and any more bobby pins you may need to give it extra security.

Step 9: We chose to keep our flowers to minimum and place them above the bun. This is because there is so much going on, we don’t want it to look overwhelming. Key tip: Don’t over do the amount of flowers you use, it will look messy & costume like. We’re aiming for subtle elegance with each hairstyle.

Bubble Ponytail

What you need:

  • Hair Brush
  • Hair Bands (Clear elastic or matching your hair colour)
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair Spray

This hairstyle would make rapunzel jealous. This unique take on a ponytail radiates elegance & can be worn in many versatile ways. Dropping another Key Tip for you: Incorporating baby's breath & green leaves will add a more natural & authentic feel to your floral hairstyle. Here’s how we created this look fit for a Disney Princess.

Step 1: Brush all of the hair back into a low ponytail

Step 2: Take a 3 inch section of the hair, push up to create a little bubble and tie it with a clear elastic.

Step 3: Pull on the bubble to expand it and add volume. Pull on the bubble all the way around to make sure it’s a size you’re happy with.

Step 4: Open the bubble at the bottom to create a gap. Take the ponytail up and in through the gap, pull the ponytail down, creating a topsy turvy bubble.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2 - 4 down the ponytail until you reach the bottom

Step 6:  Add your flowers. We used baby roses and baby's breath. Intricately placed inside the bubbles and by pushing the stems through the elastic hair bands. This will prevent them from falling out. Another Key Tip: Spray the stems with hairspray before putting them in your hair, this will help them hold in place.
